Welcome to Rookie Preacher.

Our hope is that this website will be a resource for pastors who want to preach and lead better.

The role of a pastor is demanding. Some weeks you probably find yourself wondering how you are going to get your sermon prepared or wondering how you are going to lead through a problem. We want to help you in those areas.

If you’re on Twitter, we’d love to connect with you. You can follow us and we’ll follow you: @Rookie_Preacher

Why “Rookie Preacher”?

We chose the name Rookie Preacher because it represents what we’re about. As a rookie in anything, you are in a position of being a learner. We believe that all pastors should be learners. That you are never to a place where you can simply coast through your craft of preaching or leadership. There is always something new to learn. We hope to encourage you in that.

Who is “We”?

Rookie Preacher was started by two guys: Joe Hoagland and Brandon Kelley.

  1. Hi, just reading your book Preaching Sticky Sermons. As a 70 year old I am trying out Evernote for the first time following your advice. In Chapter 7 it gives a link to Evernote downloads. Unfortunately it will not work. Just tried to click onto the Evernote series on this page and again I get error messages.
Your book is really driving me to update and move forward both in my preparation and sermons.

I would really appreciate your templates.

    God bless.

    Joan White in UK.
